Well, we're getting closer to our computers becoming a video game console with Windows 10 Game Mode. And, that's a good thing. However, it has not been released quite yet. It will come out in the Windows 10 Creators Update this Spring.
Game mode will drive more of your computer's performance resources to the video game you are playing at the moment. As referenced in the video below, you will need to activate the Game mode feature manually. Which I see as a great option just in case you are multitasking on your computer and don't want to hog all of Windows' performance.
There are several reasons I'm excited for this feature. The most obvious being that games will look and run better. Another is that it won't be just for games you purchase at the Windows Store. Games you buy at stores such as Steam will be able to take advantage of this feature also.
I do have one question. Will the Xbox app be able to use the Game mode feature when I stream a game from my Xbox One to my computer? I guess only time will tell.
